In their report on Fenvalerate Induced Immunotoxicity in Broiler Chicks they mention that The present study was undertaken to evaluate the immunosuppressive effect experimentally induced Fenvalerate toxicity in broiler chicks and its amelioration with Vitamin E. For this study, one hundred fifty apparently healthy unsexed broiler chicks (White Leghorn) were randomly divided into five groups. The control chicks were fed with normal feed without fenvalerate. Group I and II were fed with 20 ppm/kg feed and 40 ppm/kg feed Fenvalerate respectively. Whereas Group III and IV chicks were feed with 20 ppm/kg feed and 40 ppm/ kg feed Fenvalerate respectively along with Vitamin E @ 2.5 ml each (62.5 mgs) in water. Significant decrease in DNFB dermal sensitivity test score in group I, II, III and IV was observed when compared to control. Grossly mild to moderate atrophy of thymus, spleen was noticed. Histopathologically mild to moderate depletion of lymphocytes in germinal centers of spleen and cortex of thymus of all experimental groups was observed when compared to control. Bursa of all experimental groups revealed mild to moderate lymphoid depletion, mild interfollicular fibrous tissue proliferation. The changes in bursa, spleen and thymusalong with decrease in DNFB dermal sensitivity test score are indicating the immunosuppressive effect of the fenvalerate. The present study was concluded that fenvalerate at 20 ppm, 40 ppm in feed for 6 weeks was immunotoxic and the ameliorative effect of vitamin E @ 2.5ml (62.5mg.vitamin E) was negligible. Decrease in DNFB dermal sensitivity test score is due to decrease in cell mediated immunity, which had been further reflected in reduction of DNFB skin sensitivity reaction. The changes in bursa, spleen and thymus are indicating the immunosuppressive effect of fenvalerate in broiler chicks.
Fenvalerate @ 20 ppm, 40 ppm in feed for 6 weeks was immunotoxic to poultry. Protective action of vitamin E at this dose level (@2.5 ml each to group III and IV throughout the experiment daily in water) was negligible. A Federal Government move to sideline a $1.9 billion budget cut to higher education courses and push ahead with fee deregulation has failed to sway the Senate crossbench. The measures — fee deregulation and the funding cut — were at the heart of the Coalition's university overhaul, which seemed doomed to fail for a second time in the Senate and have now been split into two separate pieces of legislation. The original bill faced heavy opposition, with only one crossbench senator out of eight publicly prepared to back it — far short of the six votes required. 'Greedy' pair Lukas Kamay, Christopher Hill jailed over $7 million ABS insider trading scam
Former NAB banker Lukas Kamay and former Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS) analyst Christopher Hill have been sentenced to jail over a $7 million insider trading scheme. Kamay was sentenced to seven years and three months in prison with a minimum term of four and a half years. Hill was jailed for three years and three months with a minimum term of two years. Supreme Court Justice Elizabeth Hollingworth described the case as "the worst instance of insider trading to come before the courts in this country. She said Kamay and Hill "were motivated by personal greed, pure and simple" and said Kamay displayed some symptoms of "inflated self-esteem or narcissistic personality traits." Kamay pleaded guilty to money laundering, identity theft and insider trading. Co-offender Hill also pleaded guilty to insider trading and misuse of public office.
