Congress leader and former Union Minister Murli Deora passed away here this morning after prolonged illness.
He was 77 and is survived by his wife and two sons, including former MP Milind Deora.
Murli was known as died at around 3.25 am. He had been unwell and admitted to a hospital. He had come home two days ago.
Deora's mortal remains would be kept at the Mumbai Congress office, where party workers would pay their last respects. His last rites would be performed at Chandanwadi Crematorium later in the day.
Deora, held several important portfolios during his decades-long career, first contested the civic elections in Mumbai in 1975.
An economics graduate, Deora was Mayor of Mumbai from 1977 to 1978 and was elected to the Lok Sabha four times from Mumbai South, a seat later held by his son, Milind, who is also a former MP and ex Union minister. Currently, he was serving his third term as Rajya Sabha MP.
He held the portfolio of Petroleum and Natural Gas during the UPA–1 regime. The Congress veteran had served as the Mumbai Congress President for 22 years.
He joined the Union Cabinet in 2006, before he turned 70 and led oil diplomacy in Myanmar, Algeria and Egypt, and held talks with ministers from Sudan, Chad, Ethiopia and Comoros.
Deora also hosted the first India-Africa Hydrocarbon Conference and Exhibition in November 2007. In July 2011, Deora became Minister of State for Communications and Information Technology.

 Human Resource Development (HRD) Minister Smriti Irani today dismissed Sanskrit episode. This is latest controversy with her. Ms Irani said that teaching German under a Memorandum of Understanding or MoU signed in 2011 had been in violation of the Constitution. An investigation has already been launched to find out how the MoU was signed. The minister said that three language formula was very clear that any of the 23 Indian languages listed in Schedule VIII of the Constitution could be opted for. She clears that German will continue to be taught as a foreign language.

 "My endeavour is whatever I do should be done so that it is within law and favours the students," she said.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday assured German Chancellor Angela Merkel that he would look into the controversy surrounding the teaching of German in Kendriya Vidyalayas or central government schools in the country. A decision to replace German with Sanskrit as a third language in these schools has disappointed Germany.

 "Our Prime Minister assured her that he himself is a votary of young Indian children learning other languages. How it is best done within the confines of the Indian system, we will work it out," Syed Akbaruddin, India's foreign ministry spokesperson

 German should be taught as a foreign language, similar to French, Mandarin etc. These foreign languages cannot be the third language under the constitution of India. Sanskrit, Tamil, Marathi etc. should be the third language, while German can be taught as the foreign language. Sanskrit is not going to give any advantage to the student.

The Prime Minister is keen "to have meaningful dialogue with as many south Asian colleagues as possible", External Affairs ministry spokesperson Syed Akbaruddin said. "This would mean taking into account all aspects of relationships," he added. He said the schedule of the bilateral meetings is being finalized, "and it is a work in progress".

"Our intent is to have meaningful dialogues," he said.

Modi will leave here on November 25 afternoon for the SAARC summit in Kathmandu, being held on November 26-27, and is scheduled to return on November 27 late evening.

(.. if again Pak repeats previous fault, talking with extremists, would Modi talk to him?)  it is good to talk since it will give some heat in the month of November, as already it is winter season. So be ready for warm winds blowing from Himalaya and forget winters.

A suicide bomber blew himself up at a inter-district volleyball tournament in eastern Afghanistan, killing at least 45 people in the country's deadliest terrorist attack this year. Bomber was on foot and mingling with the crowd, detonated his explosives. The bloodshed came just hours after Parliament approved agreements allowing US and NATO troops to remain in the country past the end of the year. Volleyball tournament was being attended by large crowed in Yahyakhail district late Sunday afternoon. Dozens more were wounded, many critically, said Mokhlis Afghan, spokesman for the governor of Paktika province. He said the bomber was mingling with the large crowd at the sporting event in Yahyakhail district when he set off the explosives. "There were too many people gathered in the one place to watch the game," Afghan said. Naseeb Ahmad, a doctor at Sharan Hospital in Paktika's capital, said the hospital received about 80 wounded people, 20 of them children. Officials said people of all ages were watching the adult-league inter-district tournament.

World is shocked to see this bloodshed and fading hopes of peace. But still hopes are alive.



 Volleyball is a popular sport in Afghanistan, played across the country, and the attacker is likely to have targeted the event to ensure maximum casualties. It is also possible that the presence of local police in the crowd made it an attractive target, as security forces are regularly attacked by insurgents. Afghanistan's parliament approved agreements Sunday with the U.S. and NATO allowing international troops to remain in the country past the end of this year. Ghani's first act after becoming president was to sign the agreements, which are bitterly opposed by the Taliban and other insurgent groups. US President Barack Obama wants all US troops to be out of Afghanistan by the end of 2016, as his presidency draws to an end. Suicide bombers and their handlers are the worst sort of cowards. Since they can't convince others of their beliefs they resort to death.

 No one claimed responsibility. "There were too many people gathered in the one place to watch the game. Dozens of others are wounded and we have reports that many of them are in critical condition," Afghan said. "We need urgent help from the central government because we might need to transfer wounded people to Kabul for treatment," he added. Paktika, bordering Pakistan, is one of Afghanistan's most volatile regions, where a Taliban-led insurgency is waging an intensifying war against the government in Kabul. Sunday's attack is one of the deadliest so far this year, a time when attacks are escalating alongside a contentious election and the inauguration of President Ashraf Ghani in September.

     She said: "Political power itself has been undermined by the new economy. So, you have now major corporations running political parties, owning the media, deciding what the debates will be. And you have the situations where you have these handful of corporations who own everything. And there too, if you look at who are these corporations, all of them are trading castes-Gandhi's caste, the Banias. (Cursing....?) 
     also curse the Sun because Sun is only ultimate source of energy on earth, what the hell it is, why not stars and our own earth...?

     "The Bania community owns the media, corporations, mines. They are the moneylenders; they have the rural India caught in a vice. Then you have the Brahmins who run the judiciary, who run the bureaucracy, who are the editors, who are the journalists and so on.Then you have the Dalits who are 90 per cent landless. (She herself talks about castism, same time curse it also. (Can revenge ever lead to harmony?)

     Unhappy with PM Modi, she said one needs to rethink the definition of progress. She could not seem happy with growing popularity of Modi abroad, she said people are excited about certain aspects of India, because they do not bother to see the other aspects.      She is trying to confuse caste system with poverty , although both are interlinked . How ever both are creation of Politicians . Her bias against business community appears pathological in nature and unfounded .The business community creates wealth , you cannot distribute some thing you do not have . In trying to make every one equally poor in the name of socialism you do not progress and regress back hundreds of years . It is quite possible that the business community may get extra mileage out of their efforts . They are not saints after all . 


    Given the plus and minuses of a business community's contributions and exploitation , the scale will weigh very heavily in favor of pluses . But for the business community , the Indian economic scene would have been horrible . It is the economic backwardness which stings and not the so much the social backwardness. For three decade we have had reservation and quota system , that it has failed to make much impact is largely due to uncontrolled population . Surprisingly she has not identified the major factor which is the govts in ability to implement a targeted population control measures , where as she was quite froth coming in holding the rich class and the Bania class responsible for the evils , it is surprising that she doe not have any of her so called privileged opinion on this.

    Why none of these people have any set of concrete ideas .or suggestions as to what should be done . What has been her contribution . Has she written to the govt with her plans has she indicated her willingness to take up the responsibility in this regards and volunteered to head some such mission.      if hindus were believing in caste system, nearly 500 million hindus would not have voted for Modiji to become the prime minister now though Modiji is from a backward caste! How many Indians know that the two greatest epics of hindusim,Rmayan and Mhabahart were NOT written by high caste hindus! BUT TWO GREATEST INTELLECTUALS EVER BORN, SAGE VAMLMIKI AND SAGE VYAS WHO WERE FROM THE SCHEDULED CASTE AND FISHERMAN CASTE!

     Problem with this type of thinking is that she tries to show each category as consisting of people with same of level income, assets and education, which is defective thinking. The medi is owned not by all Banias but only 0.001 % banias. Similarly, only 0.001 % Brahmins go into bureaucracy and judiciary and 90% Brahmins can be categorized as poor in terms of landholding and income.
