In their report on Noravirus as the second cause of viral acute gastroenteritis in a pediatric Portuguese population: prospective multicenter study they mention that Introdution: Our aim is reduce the number of Acute Gastro Enteritis (AGE) episodes without etiology and verify if ESPGHAN/ESPID recommendations are followed. Experimental: Prospective multicenter study that includes individuals under eighteen years, with AGE, attending ER of Minho hospitals, between April 2011 and March 2012. Questionnaire was filled, stool samples were collected and tested by RT-PCR for rotavirus (RV), noroviruses (NV), adenovirus (AdV) and enterovirus (Echo). Results: Questionnaire were answered by 518 (Males:3 20) and 250 (Males:152) stool samples collected. Median age was 21 (range: 1-215) months. RV was detected in 15.6% (39/250), NV in 13.2% (33/250), AdV in 2.5% (13/250) and Echo in 1.9% (10/250). This panel identified 36.0% (90/250) of AGE etiology. Under 5 years old 41.1% (79/192) of AGE etiology was determinated. NV represented 36.3% of all VAGE. Concerning ESPGHAN/ESPID recommendations 15.7% (68/433) were advised to change diet, 1.4% (6/420) stop feeding>4h and 6.1% (26/427) to use special formula. ORS was recommended to 78.1% (335/429). Antibiotic weren`t prescribed. Conclusion: This is the first multicenter study in Portugal with research of NV. Our findings demonstrate that despite RV was the most frequent viruses isolated, it was closely followed by NV and from May to November NV was more frequent than RV. The conduct on AGE was mostly based on ESPGHAN/ESPID recommendations, however still seems necessary emphasize these recommendations. Under their leadership the research area is surely likely to expand beyond the horizons. It will be worthy to explore the further potential under their legacy. 'Greedy' pair Lukas Kamay, Christopher Hill jailed over $7 million ABS insider trading scam
Former NAB banker Lukas Kamay and former Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS) analyst Christopher Hill have been sentenced to jail over a $7 million insider trading scheme. Kamay was sentenced to seven years and three months in prison with a minimum term of four and a half years. Hill was jailed for three years and three months with a minimum term of two years. Supreme Court Justice Elizabeth Hollingworth described the case as "the worst instance of insider trading to come before the courts in this country. She said Kamay and Hill "were motivated by personal greed, pure and simple" and said Kamay displayed some symptoms of "inflated self-esteem or narcissistic personality traits." Kamay pleaded guilty to money laundering, identity theft and insider trading. Co-offender Hill also pleaded guilty to insider trading and misuse of public office.
