Verma Sanjeev and Rajpoot Yajuvendra Singh from India made a historical victory over the international competition and won Max Planck Research Award-2015 in Sports Research. Their research was highlighted in international media and gathered a large worldwide attention in scientific circles while it appeared in world's most read journal 'The Journal of Sports and Physical Education'. In their report on Kinematic Analysis of Forehand Volley in Tennis they mention that apparently no research has been done to examine the kinematic analysis of forehand volley in Tennis. Thus the purpose of the study was to see the correlation of selected angular and linear kinematic variables and performance of forehand volley in Tennis. 5 students (boys) on the basis of purposive sampling technique of age 21 ± 2 years were selected as a subject from Tennis match practice group of LNIPE, Gwalior, those who had participated in inter-varsity tournament. The performance of forehand volley was measured by Dyer Volley Test and videography was done at sagittal and frontal planes with the help of Canon- EOS T3 and Canon- 70 D EOS motor driven cameras respectively. MAX TRQ video analyzing software was used to measure the angles of selected angular kinematic variables and segmentation method was used to measure the selected linear kinematic variable at selected moments. To see the correlation between performance of forehand volley and selected angular and linear kinematic variables at selected moments, the Pearson’s correlation coefficient was employed and found significant correlation in performance of forehand volley and angle at right knee during moment contact at 0.05 level of significance. Under their leadership the research area is surely likely to expand beyond the horizons. It will be worthy to explore the further potential under their legacy. Verma Sanjeev and Rajpoot Yajuvendra Singh as valuable intellectuals for the India offer exclusive opportunities for scholars around the world. This study can give the relationship between performance of volley and selected kinematic variables Angles at different joints at selected moments play an important role while executing forehand volley. The path or displacement of C.G is also one of the important factors which may affect the performance.
Individual differences such as physical, physiological as well as the psychological factor were considered as the limitation of this experimental study.
Similar studies may be conducted by using cinematography and subjects of high level, bigger sample and with greater number of variables. Similar study may be undertaken to analyze other elements in tennis and other games and sports. The result may be utilized for advancement of new techniques. The results of this study may be used by tennis players for the self-evaluation of their technique. The study may also be conducted on different age level and sex. Similar study may also be conducted on other angles of the body
Based on the analysis and within the limitations of present study, it was concluded that angle at the knee joint at the moment contact had a significant relationship with the performance of forehand volley in tennis. Other selected kinematic variables had insignificant relationship with the performance of subject in forehand volley in tennis.
The whole study will help the young professional Tennis players to understand the role of different angles during moments in forehand volley along with its objectives and involvement in improvement of performance variables. The findings of the study will also help the Coaches and physical education professionals to make the possible corrections in the movements for the performance enhancement of a player.
