Dinesh R. Godhani, Anand A. Jogel, Anil M. Sanghani and Jignasu P. Mehta mark the start of new Era in Chemical Science with Grignard Research Award-2015 in Chemical Science
25 April, 2015, India, USA NEWS CORP
Dinesh R. Godhani, Anand A. Jogel, Anil M. Sanghani and Jignasu P. Mehta rock the world of Chemical Science, while International Media reports confirmed their recognition on World’s 500 Most Influential Chemists for Year 2015 on Earth. Dinesh R. Godhani, Anand A. Jogel, Anil M. Sanghani and Jignasu P. Mehta are awarded with Grignard Research Award-2015 in Chemical Science. In a high profile international competition flooded with thousands of participants from several countries, India has once again proved it’s leadership in the area. Dinesh R. Godhani, Anand A. Jogel, Anil M. Sanghani and Jignasu P. Mehta won the meritorious competition and established the international leadership in Chemical Science. International Agency for Standards and Ratings expressed it’s views that Dinesh R. Godhani, Anand A. Jogel, Anil M. Sanghani and Jignasu P. Mehta’s efforts will explore tremendous opportunities in this segment leading it to new height. It is surely a matter of pride for civilians of India to have such brain storming intellectuals for close interaction. India has once again confirmed a rich tradition to produce world renowned intellectuals to benefit international society.Dinesh R. Godhani, Anand A. Jogel, Anil M. Sanghani and Jignasu P. Mehta from India made a historical victory over the international competition and won Grignard Research Award-2015 in Chemical Science. Their research was highlighted in international media and gathered a large worldwide attention in scientific circles while it appeared in world's most read journal 'Journal of Antimicrobials'. In their report on Synthesis, antimicrobial and antitubercular activities of some new 1,2,4-triazole they mention that A series of 1,2,4-triazoles (PM4a-m) based on Mannich reaction were synthesized and characterized by FT-IR, 1H-NMR, 13C-NMR, mass spectroscopy and elemental analysis. The present study deals with newly synthesized 1,2,4-triazole derivatives (PM4a-m). Synthesized compounds PM4a-m were screened against In vitro antimicrobial and antitubercular activities. Compounds PM4d, PM4j and PM4k exhibited promising antibacterial and antifungal activity, while compounds PM4b, PM4c, PM4d and PM4j showed good antitubercular activity if compared with standard drugs. Under their leadership the research area is surely likely to expand beyond the horizons. It will be worthy to explore the further potential under their legacy. Dinesh R. Godhani, Anand A. Jogel, Anil M. Sanghani and Jignasu P. Mehta as valuable intellectuals for the India offer exclusive opportunities for scholars around the world. One of the most attractive weightage for India is to have the awardees for promotion of the concerned scientific discipline for the benefit of its civilians. Thus India which has excellent track record to produce brain storming intellectuals, has offered a new extension in terms of Dinesh R. Godhani, Anand A. Jogel, Anil M. Sanghani and Jignasu P. Mehta to world.
The present study reports the successful synthesis of the title compounds in good yields using modified Mannich base reaction. The newly synthesized compounds were screened against gram-positive, gram-negative bacterial and fungal pathogens. A series of compounds when substituted by electron-releasing group are present on aromatic ring enhanced the antimicrobial activity. The newly synthesized 1,2,4-triazoles were also screened for antitubercular activity and the results suggest that our compounds possessed multi resistance moieties. The compounds exhibited a structure–activity relationship (SAR) because; the activity of compounds varies with substitution. Based on the SAR, it could be concluded that the activity of compounds depends on the electron withdrawing nature of the substituent groups.
The article is focused on synthesis of some new medicinally important moieties based on 1,2,4-triazoles. Characterizations of compounds were achieved by the use of spectral techniques. The newly synthesized 1,2,4-triazoles were screened for antimicrobial and antitubercular activities.
Authors want to carry out SAR and QSAR study of newly synthesized 1,2,4-triazoles derivatives but we do not have such facilities with us and professionally this study requires huge funds and therefore could not possible to carry out.
Authors personally recommend that one should have collaborative research with well-established institute to carry out in-depth study of computational chemistry. This will enable teachers like us those have little facilities or lack of funding to work for complete characterization and more efficient way of synthesis of target compounds.
Authors have various funding agencies, which are generous for providing funding for such work. DST, New Delhi, UGC, New Delhi, DBT, New Delhi are few Govt. of India’s leading funding agencies in our country. Unfortunately, for this particular work I was unable to receive fund from any of the agency. Dr. Dinesh R. Godhani is Associate Professor at Department of Chemistry, (DST-FIST and UGC NON-SAP Department), Mahatma Gandhi Campus, Maharaja Krishnakumarsinhji Bhavnagar University, Bhavnagar, Gujarat, India. He did B.Sc, M.Sc and Ph.D from Saurashtra University.
Dr. Anand A. Jogel is Research Scholar at Department of Chemistry, (DST-FIST and UGC NON-SAP Department), Mahatma Gandhi Campus, Maharaja Krishnakumarsinhji Bhavnagar University, Bhavnagar, Gujarat, India.
