Sixty six Indian fishermen released by Sri Lanka have set sail for home and will reach India by today night, a Minister of External affairs said. Of the fishermen, 27 are from Nagapattinam, 19 from Pudukottai, 12 from Rameswaram and eight from Karaikal in the union territory of Puducherry. Fishermen were arrested by the Sri Lankan Navy on different dates for allegedly fishing in Lankan waters. Their release was ordered after a Ramanathapuram District Judicial Magistrate ordered the release of 12 Sri Lankan fishermen who were arrested Sep 30, along with their two boats. 66 Indian fishermen released by Srilanka set sail for home. To reach Indian coast by night. India welcomed the move.

Chinese patrol ships invades Japanese territorial waters off Senkaku Islands

Two China Coast Guard ships invades Japanese territorial waters around the Senkaku Islands in the East China Sea on Tuesday. A Japan Coast Guard patrol ship observed them for about two hours before they left the area, officials said.  The Haijing 2166 and the Haijing 2401 entered Japanese waters southwest of Uotsuri in the Senkaku chain around 10 a.m. The Chinese vessels left the waters southeast of Minamikojima, another island in the Senkaku chain, shortly past noon, the Japan Coast Guard said.  China Coast Guard ships last entered territorial waters in the area on Friday. Chinese government vessels have been recorded intruding on 31 days so far this year.  China regularly contests Japan’s sovereignty over the uninhabited islets. Its ships have repeatedly entered the waters around them in recent years, raising tensions between the two countries.

South Korea is happy over its diplomatic relations with Saudi Arabia

Image result for south korea prime ministerForeign Minister Yun Byung-se, who is on a visit to Saudi Arabia, the last leg of his Middle East tour, met with his Saudi counterpart Saud al-Faisal on December 23. In the meeting, the two Ministers exchanged views on the need for the Republic of Korea and Saudi Arabia to upgrade their relations to strategic and multi-faceted cooperative ties; issues concerning bilateral cooperation; and the situations on the Korean Peninsula and in the Middle East. The two Ministers took note of the best-ever ties between the two countries that had marked their 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations in 2012. In particular, they noted with appreciation that the two have lately been seeing their relations further expanded and diversified into new areas as well as high-level exchanges become more active. The two sides shared the view that the following served and will serve as opportunities to take their relations to the next level the visit to the ROK by a large number of minister-level Saudi officials for the bilateral business forum held in October, the bilateral summit talks between President Park Geun-hye and Crown Prince Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud held on the sidelines of the G20 Summit in November and the ROK President's visit to Saudi Arabia scheduled for 2015. Minister Yun called Saudi Arabia the ROK’s “al rafik (partner in Arabic)” of the past, present and future, saying that the Middle Eastern country worked with the ROK in the latter’s economic growth process over the past 50 years since the establishment of diplomatic relations in 1962 and will accompany the ROK on the path into next 50 years and beyond. Minister Yun brought attention to the fact that the safety and technology of the ROK’s nuclear sector is acknowledged by the international community, as demonstrated by the ROK having won an order for the construction of Barakah nuclear power plant units in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). In that vein, he asked Saudi Arabia to take interest in the ROK’s nuclear sector and allow relevant Korean companies to participate in nuclear power plant projects in Saudi Arabia and thereby contribute to the country’s national development. He also voiced hope for closer cooperation in such sectors as healthcare, medical services, ICT and new and renewable energy. Minister al-Faisal expressed his hope that Minister Yun’s visit to Saudi Arabia will serve as an opportunity to expand the scope of bilateral cooperation to include foreign affairs and security. He went on to stress that as the Saudi government is most interested in learning from the ROK’s experience in human resource development, the shortcut to closer bilateral relations will be enhancing mutual understanding and communication through increased people-to-people exchanges between the two countries. In terms of regional situations, Minister Yun commended Saudi Arabia for playing a pivotal role as a mediator and keeper of regional stability amid political crises of Middle Eastern countries. He also spoke of the need for the ROK and Saudi Arabia to work more closely together at the UN, the G20 and other international mechanisms. In response, Minister al-Faisal explained Saudi’s position on key issues in the Middle East, including those between Israel and Palestine and involving Syria as well as the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) and other rampant violent extremist groups. He agreed on the need for strategic communication with each other since peace and stability on the Korean Peninsula and in the Middle East are closely linked to each other, with incidents that occur in one of the two regions having impact on those that occur in the other. Minister Yun’s visit to Saudi Arabia marked the first of its kind by an ROK Foreign Minister in seven years. In particular, the bilateral Foreign Ministers’ meeting held during the visit is seen to carry great significance in that the two countries agreed in principle on the need to forge new strategic cooperative ties ahead of the ROK President's visit to Saudi Arabia in 2015; and that the diversification of the sectors of bilateral cooperation beyond the fields of energy and construction of the past will advance national interests of both countries.

The son of Hollywood’s actors Jackie Chan has been charged with drug offence and if convicted, singer Jaycee Chan could face up to three years in prison. Chinese prosecutors in Beijing charged Jaycee Chan, for sheltering others to use drugs, more than 4 months after he was detained. In August, the police detained Jaycee at his apartment with Taiwanese movie star Ko Kai along with 100 grams (3.5 ounces) of Marijuana. Police informed that both Jaycee and Ko were tested positive for Marijuana and admitted using the drug. Jaycee Chan’s this act was embarrassing particularly for his more famous father, Jackie Chan. Jackie Chan came forward and apologized over his son’s arrest, saying that he is “heartbroken” and “ashamed”. “Regarding this issue with my son Jaycee, I feel very angry and very shocked,” Jackie Chan said on his microblog. “As a public figure, I’m very ashamed. As a father, I’m heartbroken,” told Jackie Chan.

Localities, especially those with prominent tourist sites, must raise public awareness of maintaining security and order and servicing tourists in a friendly way, according to a resolution recently issued by the Government.   The Government also gave the nod to funding for a national action plan on tourism and a national tourism promotion programme in 2015.   International visitors to Viet Nam in November estimated 608,617 arrivals, increase 8.9% over last month and down 16.7% over the same period last year. Total international arrivals in 11 months reached 7,217,008, increase 5.4% over the same period last year. The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism (MoCST) was asked to work together with other ministries and sector in devising plans to draw foreign visitors from potential markets.   In coordination with the MoCST, the Ministry of Planning and Investment will work on all possible incentives for investments, especially those going to infrastructure and key national tourist areas as listed in the comprehensive master plan on tourism development until 2020, with a vision to 2030 and The Ministry of Finance is in charge of reviewing the investment law and other decrees, thereby making proposals to make possible changes in regulations on hotel and travel business.   At the same time, it will examine regulations on importing hi-end travel vehicles such as hydrofoils, cruise vessels, seaplanes and balloons, and report to the Government before June 30, 2015. International Journal of Business Management welcomed the Viet Nam's move and revealed that tourism is going to be big business in year 2015 if world peace is maintained.  Regulations on land allocation and taxes on land use will also be adjusted in a way that eases financial burden on accommodation and tourist facilities. The One Pillar Pagoda is often mentioned to be one of Hanoi's most beautiful pagodas. Hanoi, is a major city in Vietnam has many interesting tourist attractions to visit. temple, museum, pagoda are best attractions at Ho Chi Minh City. According to statistics of Indian Tourism Ministry, in 2012 the number of Indian outbound tourists accounted for 1.2% of the population. Indian visitors love shopping, outdoor activities, visiting museums and war relics, and discovering new destinations. Besides, security, safety and food also affect the decision of Indian visitors to choose destination. In 11 months of 2014, Viet Nam welcomed approximately 50,000 Indian arrivals which was very few compared with Indian tourists traveling abroad. The main reasons were inconvenience of visa procedure and aviation connectivity between Viet Nam and India.

Up to eight tonnes of dead endangered sea turtles have been seized in central Vietnam where over four tonnes of the same wildlife were confiscated a month ago.
VnExpress News reported that a team of police and inspectors found 7-8 tonnes of dead sea turtles in four warehouses when they carried out a sudden inspection at the house of Vu Thi Hai Thanh in Nha Trang City – the capital of Khanh Hoa Province in the south-central region. The turtles are an endangered wildlife species that needs to be protected. World's top most journal, The Journal of Biodiversity expressed it's deep concerns over such repeated exploitation of endangered species. Two casks in which turtles were soaked in water mixed with chemicals were also found at the house, located in Phuoc Dong Commune. Thanh failed to show any documents related to the origin of the dead animals, just saying that they were owned by Hoang Tuan Hai, who lived in the same commune. The team question Hai and he was unable to present any certificate of business registration / documents to prove the origin of the dead turtles.  Hai replied that he had bought the endangered animals from local fishermen for VND200,000-800,000 (US$9.4-37.4) each.  10 days earlier, he asked Thanh, an acquaintance of his, to allow him to store the animals in her house and secured her agreement.  The team has transferred the dead turtles to the Nha Trang Institute of Oceanography for storage, verification and resolution in accordance with the law.  In November, the Nha Trang environmental police also discovered 4.4 tonnes of the same dead sea turtles in the warehouses and art handicraft factories operated by Hai.  Hai could not provide any documents to show their origin and told police officers that he had purchased the dead turtles from people both inside and outside the city for VND200,000-300,000 ($9.4-14) each for four to five years.  After making the endangered animals into attractive art handicrafts, he sold them to tourists for about VND800,000 ($37.4) a piece.  An investigation is on to determine whether there is a ring that hunts and kills sea turtles involved in this case, said Colonel Dao Van Toan, head of the Khanh Hoa environmental crime investigation department.  Nguyen Duyen Thanh, from the Inspectorate of the Khanh Hoa Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, said sea turtles are among the rare and precious wildlife to be on the verge of extinction, so they are being protected strictly worldwide.  Vietnam now prohibits exploiting, trading, collecting, raising, storing or processing sea turtles.
