Dr. Subhabrata Ghosh was born on 13.02.1981 in the family of Mr. Ashoke Kr Ghosh and Smt Bandana Ghosh. He knows Bengali, English, Hindi and German very well. He has been conferred as Fellow, Directorate of Biotechnology, IASR. He has done his secondary from W.B. Board of Secondary Education in 1997, higher secondary from W.B. Council of H.S. Education in 1999, B.Sc. [Zoo(H)] from University of Calcutta in 2003, M.Sc. (Biotechnology) from University of Burdwan in 2005, M.Sc (Zoology) from Netaji Subhas Open University, Kolkata in 2010, Post Graduate Diploma in Forensic Science from Bioinformatics Institute of India Noida in 2011 and Ph.D (Biotechnology) from Bose Institute, University of Calcutta in 2013. He has Qualified in GATE (GRADUATE APTITUDE TEST OF ENGINEERING)-2006 All India Rank- 534 GATE SCORE- 412 GATE Percentile = 94.65 • CSIR-UGC NET – Dec 2005, June 2006, Dec 2010 Qualified for LECTURESHIP. • ICMR (Indian Council of Medical Research) NET-2007 Qualified for JRF. • CSIR- UGC NET-Dec-2008 Qualified for JRF. • SET (STATE ELIGIBILITY TEST) -2013 Qualified for LECTURESHIP. His M.Sc Project was on “Water soluble Polysaccharides from Linum usitatissimum, Its purification, sugar composition determination and chemical investigation”. Techniques and Instruments used: Ion exchange Chromatography, GC-MS(Gas chromatography-mass spectrometer). His Post M.Sc Research Experience includes- One and half (1.5yr) year research experience in the Dept of Biotechnology, University of Burdwan (Nov 2006-April 2008) on Determination of Antimicrobial (both antibacterial and antifungal) property of Chicory (Cichorium intybus) root extract and isolation of the active principle and structure determination of the active principle. Ph.D research experience in Division of Plant Biology, Bose Institute, Kolkata (May 2008-May 2013) Thesis: Molecular Documentation and Evaluation of different species of Ginger and Bamboo from Eastern and North Eastern India Post Doc Research Experience in Division of Plant Biology, Bose Institute, Kolkata (June 2013 - till date) on DNA Fingerprinting of Medicinal Plants. He is Life Member of “The Indian Science Congress Association” (Membership No: L20648). He is also Life Member of “The DNA Society of India” (Membership No: LM-104).
