Khan Shafqat Ali*, Javaid Muhammad Arshad and Umar Farooq receive Helen Adams Keller Research Award- 2015 in Education. Their research findings were published on world's prestigious most read journal: The Journal of Education. It has been observed that a lot of stress being seen in the University teachers that hinders in their academic performance. The research article factors discusses responsible for creating stress in teachers of public sector universities of Rawalpindi. The objectives of the study were to identify the factors responsible of stress in teachers of public sector universities. The research design for the study was descriptive survey. Research was conducted on a random sample of 70 (40 male and 30 female) teachers. The observed factors were mainly due to the lack of time for relaxation, institutional politics, and freedom to ask for any sort of help when needed from superiors, heavy workload, extra duties, job security and family issues. The overall results regarding stress level revealed that a high percentage of teachers were falling at very low level and moderate stress categories. The democratic environment, reasonable workload, Provision of job security for the employees, consultative leadership and proper guidance and counselling arrangements were recommended in this study. In the light of the drawn conclusions, the following recommendations were suggested: The administration should learn, communicate and apply stress management techniques to each and every member of the organization or institute. A cooperative democratic organizational culture should be developed in the entire organization. Job security and career development opportunities for the employees should be made certain within the institute. Sufficient salary packages and reasonable incentives should be granted to the employees in accordance with their performances. Academic staff should be kept away from the additional administrative assignments.
