Rupee trades against dollar

Rupee trades against dollar at 61.84  

Rupee drops as importers, including oil companies, seen buying dollars more.

The local unit opened at 61.70 per dollar. At 1.55pm, the home currency was trading at 61.84 per dollar, down 0.12% from the previous close of 61.78, while India’s equity benchmark Sensex index was trading at 28,491.94 points on BSE, up 0.56%.

The dollar index, which measures the US currency’s strength against major currencies, was trading at 88.241, down 0.08% from the previous close of 88.31.
